Gosh, I guess I've fallen off of the Blog Wagon. Our computer at home has been on the blink so I've only been able to use my laptop at school. On Mother's Day, my battery back up on my computer caught on fire. Luckily Jeff came home and caught it or we might have had quite a little fire! That was the same day that it was raining so hard that it was coming through our picture window in our living room.... and a whole container of cole slaw dressing spilled all over the back of the car on our way to Erik's birthday party. Oh yeah, what a great Mother's Day that was! We are busy with all of the end of the year school stuff. We have 2 days left, then just a little bit on another day to get report cards. I can't believe we are almost done. It's gone really fast. Jeff has wrapped up all of his planting. That will be nice. It will be nice to have him home in the evenings. He said that now that he is done in the field, we will start working with our 4H steers more. That sure needs to be done. Our first show is June 28th so we have a lot of work to do!

Here are a few highlights of the past week or so:
1. Last Friday I went with Brooke on her field trip to Wildlife Prairie Park. We had such an awesome day and were able to see most of the animals. The weather was perfect and the kids were really well behaved. That always makes those trips a lot better! Brooke and I had a lot of fun packing our lunches! Geesh, you would have thought we were going on a desert hike for 7 days for as much food as we took! I am so lucky that I have my two personal days to use for their field trips. Brooke was sure to tell her teacher that I was not going as "Mrs. Ryner", but as "Brooke's mom" instead. She absolutely did not want any of my students in our group.

2. Last weekend was our terribly busy weekend. We had so many things to do. We were exhausted by Sunday night. Blake raced in his 2nd race last Sunday. He got 6th place, which he will proudly tell you was "last place" and then he will tell you that "it's not about winning, it's about having fun!" He doesn't care what place he gets as long as he gets a trophy! The course was a lot harder this time and I was proud of him for finishing the race because he sure was nervous. There was a 10' ravine that dropped into a creek that he was sure he was going to get pushed into. They blocked off that part of the course after I told them that he was nervous about it so that helped him get enough confidence to go through with the race. I was the only one there with him because Jeff was still in the field. And, for the first time in 34 years, I got a speeding ticket on the way there! So it was a very expensive weekend by the time you add up the gas that it took to go up to Atkinson and a $75 speeding ticket!

3. Blake was the proud "Narrator" and character of "Mr. Small" in his first grade play last week. He was excited to have Aunt Cathi, Dad, and Grandpa John also join us at the play. Grandma Wanda even took off half a day from school to come!

4. Brooke's 3rd grade class put on skits this week about National Holidays. She did a great job. She was excited that Grandma came to the dress rehearsal over her lunch hour and that Aunt Sara came to her performance, too.

5. 5. 5. 5.Blake's "First Grade Author's Tea" was yesterday. The whole day was set aside for family and friends to come into their classroom to read all of their books that they had written during first grade. They work very hard on all of their books and were proud to show them off. Blake had lots of people to come read his books - Aunt Cathi, Brooke (and her whole class), Papa, Aunt Sara, and even our friend Jackie made arrangements to come up to it. Thank you to everyone for coming to all of the extras this week!!! I wish you could have seen Brooke and Blake during the Tea. She couldn't have been any sweeter to him. She was just giving him compliment after compliment and he was even very grateful for them.

I have to apologize for the positioning of these pictures! I am still not very good at this blog stuff!

6. By the way, we are running on about 3 to 4 hours of sleep today. Brooke was up most of the night not feeling well. It must have been something she ate. She didn't have a fever, but she was shaking so bad and had an upset stomach! Poor thing. We both slept downstairs. Not very comfortable either. She is here at school, though, trying to stay awake! Brooke and I are going shopping for summer clothes tonight in the Cities. We only have 17 days until Disney World! We are going to try to hit some of the Memorial Day sales.

I hope this is enough of an update. Our home computer is supposed to be fixed soon so hopefully I can get back to updating!

Wow! I am exhausted just from reading all that! Sounds like a ton of fun though. Reading tea brings back memories -- I used to have those, fun, fun, fun! Blake was always sure to say "Hi" to us when he saw us at school when we were there for speech! Let's plan to get together when you get back from Disney -- hope you found some good deals on clothes!
